lifedrawing 30/01/20

I've begun drawing through my shapes a lot more frequently, opposed to drawing singular one off lines. As well as this, I've been experimenting with shading too. I find I achieve a better result (albeit slower) when spending more time observing and carefully mapping and applying shapes, rather than aggressively sketching lines. I've found this more difficult over the time I've put this technique into practice, however it promotes a more believable body on my paper.

iced tea

A bit of experimenting with iced tea; there's some aspects I'm getting the hang of, namely the liquid, yet I need to put more work into the form of glasses and light reflection.

I accepted a commission and gave it my best shot; I found the research interesting!

spacegun turnaround

My first attempt at a reference sheet for a space gun; it didn't go so well but I've learnt a lot and practice makes perfect.

flareon

It's 1am and my Photoshop started lagging out, so this is where I've finished. I believe I should have spent more time on plotting out the basic pose, as this was something I wanted to, but couldn't revise later when painting. However, I have found that planning my painting layers carefully has worked to my advantage, as well as experimenting with secondary lighting. I want to work more at reducing the harshness of my outlines in the future; something that I have begun fixing within the confines of my silhouettes.

spaceguns cont.

I picked my favourite 3 space guns and rendered one as best as I could. I believe I need more practice on texture rendering, especially metals. However, for the meanwhile I want to continue with my construction studies; maybe try a turnaround of this design to see how I handle that, as well as develop some other designs further.
