pond bank ripples

Pond bank with animated still of ripples using the scribble-cel technique. This one took me longer than usual as I'm not too confident with backgrounds and I found myself caught up and frustrated over this. Unfortunately, I spent most of my week sketching compositions and layouts to suit the animation. But, I feel I've settled on a simpler background to suit my animation, which may help similar tasks in the future. The scribble-cel technique taught me a little more about how to make use of masks in animation, as opposed to just in colour and treatment.

ribbon smoke inbetween

I keyed and inbetween a looping smoke ribbon with some slight additional treatment this time. I added a subtle north direction blur to my node tree and found that isolating treatment layers can help with organisation and clarity when applying the effects. Next time I will animate the inbetween with additional attention to equality in timing for a smoother, more consistent flow.
