re: impact dust continued

I revisited the impact dust with more spheres and a thicker secondary layer. This time I added blurring over time and played with the cutter tool to fix the overlay in the constraints of the initial animation. However I still feel like there is something I am missing - I think it may be that I need to mute the variance in shape for the dust cloud as it fades out to give a better impression of settling.

digital painting 31/03/21

I've been practicing my precision and patience with digital painting in Photoshop; using the soft brush contrasted with hard contours of the ink brush seem to be effective. I want to try reducing the contrast in colour for my line art within the silhouette of my digital paintings to better blend my colours - potentially even removing them entirely. I'm going to continue practicing and experimenting with digital painting in photoshop using references from my 'inspiration folder' I've collected over the years.

impact dust continued

I tried adding a second layer to add depth to the animation, but I found that my lines were too thin and following the edge too closely to bring out the depth of the animation. I'm going to retry this dust animation with a bulkier, more bold and experimental secondary layer.

sketches

Over the past few weeks I've been moving out into a new place in Hackney; these are a few select sketches and exercises from when I've had some stress free spare time.
